Young people too can learn a lot from a visit to the Antwerp Ruien. That's why we offer them the opportunity to discover this important piece of hidden history for themselves in a unique way.
Good news!!! Our school visits were not possible for quite some time due to on-site work, but starting Jan. 09, 2024, school visits can take place again! We would love to welcome you back then. Reservations can already be made now via the request form.
Especially for schools, we have put together an exciting curriculum. The school visits consist of an exclusively elaborated underground and above-ground visit with an experienced guide.
Thanks to an informative exhibition , students gain insight into the "underbelly" of the city. History & urban development, ecology & economics, biology, architecture, stories and myths.... it's all covered during this school visit!
After confirmation of the visit, an educational package is sent via e-mail. Based on these materials, a visit to The Ruien can be included in the curriculum.
€5 per student.
€50 per guide with max. 25 participants (pupils + accompanying adults).
Per group of 25 participants, one accompanying person is allowed free of charge. Additional chaperones pay €5
There is a maximum of 50 places per time slot, divided between two guides.
60 minutes, including approximately 30 minutes underground and 30 minutes above ground.
Students of fifth and sixth grade primary education and first, second and third grade secondary education accompanied by at least one teacher/supervisor.
We offer this visit formula only in Dutch.
You can book a guided school tour Tuesday through Friday starting at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm or 2 pm.
Reservations can be made up to 21 days before the visit. No visits possible during school holidays.
A school visit can be requested online via the application form.
You will receive a confirmation of your application by e-mail. This will be processed as soon as possible, subject to availability of places.
The guided school visits start at the anchor on the St. Paulusplaats, Antwerp. The guide(s) will wait for the group there .
During the underground portion of the visit, students canvisit this part of The Ruien dry and clean via a safe walkway. It is best not to bring an oversized backpack as it must be carried at all times.
