General terms and conditions

  • All visits must be paid in advance:
    a. Individual tickets can be purchased until just before the start of the visit, either online via our payment partner Mollie, or at the box office of the Ruihuis, Suikerrui 21 - Antwerp.
    b. Group tickets must be paid at least 15 days before the date of the visit. This can be done both online via our payment partner Mollie, and at the Ruihuis box office, Suikerrui 21 - Antwerp. Later payments will not be accepted and the visit will not be scheduled.
    c. School visits must be paid at least 21 days before date. Later payments will not be accepted and the visit will not be scheduled.
  • Tickets are temporarily reserved (in option) at the time you place your order and will only be sent after receipt of correct payment. Tickets are automatically released again if the order and/or payment were not completed correctly via our payment partner Mollie.
  • The prices in force at the time of reservation shall apply. All prices stated include the statutory VAT. 
  • If the payment is not made according to the instructions given by Mollie, the reservation will automatically be removed from the reservation system. The applicant will subsequently receive a cancellation notice by mail as confirmation. If you still wish to keep this visit, you must contact the reception in the Ruihuis by mail or phone. 
  • After the expiry date of the payment link, it is no longer linked to a reservation. In case of late or incorrect payment, the amount paid will automatically be refunded to your account by our payment partner Mollie. 
  • Payments on invoice are not possible.
  • Would you like a paid invoice for your visit? In that case, please enter your billing details together with the order. Completed invoices will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address given in the order after receipt of correct payment.
  • Tickets will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address specified in the order after receipt of correct payment.
  • Paid reservations cannot be cancelled, rebooked or refunded.
    A: Cancellation by visitor: Paid tickets cannot be taken back, cancelled or refunded by the organization. Only if the tickets can be resold, the organization offers a one-time, free of charge rebooking for individual tickets. Guided visits will be charged at 95.00/guide at the time of rebooking.
  • Cancellation by the organization: The organization reserves the right to cancel visits due to safety reasons, works, force majeure,... The organization is not liable and does not have to provide proof of force majeure that delays or prevents the execution of the visits.
    a. Individual tickets will be rebooked free of charge to a new date of your choice (always subject to availability)
    b. Group tickets (day visit, nocturne, combi walk and school visit with guide) will be converted to the above-ground walk, whereby part of The Ruien will still be visited whenever possible. Only if the above-ground walk proves impossible, the group ticket will be rebooked free of charge on a new date (always subject to availability).
  • You sign in at the hour of the walk for check-in* and a brief hands-on introduction. Walks always start punctually. Latecomers can no longer participate in the tour. Tickets for visits are only valid for the walk at the time and date indicated on the ticket. After the start of the visit, tickets lose their value.
    a. *Start Ruienwandeling (group and individual): Ruihuis, Suikerrui 21 - Antwerp
    b. *Start Combi Visit St Carolus Borromeus and Ruien, St Carolus Borromeus Church: Hendrik Conscienceplein 11 - Antwerp
    c. *Start School Visit with Guide: to the "Anchor", St Paulusplaats - Antwerp
    d. *Start Combi visit St Pauluskerk and Ruien: in the courtyard of St Pauluskerk, St Paulusstraat 22 - Antwerp
  • Due to safety regulations, children under the age of 10 and people with impaired vision and/or mobility cannot take part in the Ruien Walk. Pets, prams, wheelchairs etc. cannot be taken on the tour at The Ruien. The organisation will always deny visitors under 10 years of age or visitors with pets, prams and/or wheelchairs, etc. access to the Ruienwalks. In that case, tickets will not be refunded.
  • The organisation reserves the right to check and/or refuse large backpacks when entering The Ruien, without the right to compensation of the tickets.
  • The organisation will always deny access to persons under the influence, without the right to compensation of the tickets.
  • The organisation is not liable for accidents, damage and/or theft of equipment and clothing during the tour.
  • Persons who do not follow the safety instructions of the guide or the accompanying person and thus endanger the group, will be refused (further) admission to the Ruien hiking tours without the right to compensation of the tickets.
  • Each visitor will receive a backpack, boots and protective suit from the organisation. The backpack and boots are on loan and must be returned at the end of the walk. The visitor may keep the protection suit, if desired.
  • For the interactive walk with tablet, the organisation lends a tablet. At the end of the visit, this will be returned to the organisation. Misuse will be charged for by the organisation. 
  • Photography in The Ruien is not recommended for safety reasons. Photographers can contact the reception of the Ruihuis, Suikerrui 21 - Antwerp by e-mail reservaties@deruien.be or telephone 03 344 07 55 for an adapted tour.
  • Photos and videos shared by the visitor may be shared further by the organisation on the organisation's social media, mentioning the photographer.
  • After the visitor's consent, the organisation may take photos during a visit and post them online on The Ruien's social media channels. 
  • The audiovisual content on the tablets is protected by copyright. Reproduction in the form of photographs or film is prohibited.
