The Ruien beer? Explain that to me… We’d be happy to!
International Beer Day on 08/07/2026 will be all about the shared history between The Ruien Antwerp’s Seefbier—and you’ll even get a free beer (+16)! So it’s both fun and educational.
Beer has been brewed in Antwerp since the13th century. During Antwerp’s Golden Age in the 16th century, urban planner Gilbert Van Schoonbeke built new breweries around the Waterhuis and the nearby Brouwersvliet. On International Beer Day, we’ll highlight this centuries-old connection between The Ruien local brewers during a guided walking tour through this forgotten piece of history.
The Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie, located at Indiëstraat 21, 2000 Antwerp, will treat all participants (ages 16 and up*) to a delicious Seefbier or a refreshing soft drink (ages 10–16) upon presentation of their Ruien ticket. Valid only on August 7, 2026, upon presentation of your Ruien ticket.
*You may be asked to show identification, so be sure to bring it with you.
Seef is Antwerp’s oldest city beer. It’s still brewed according to the original recipe. So you’re not just taking a historical walk—you’re also tasting a piece of history!
